How much does a private jet flight cost? What makes the price

The price of a private jet flight depends on the aircraft type, the destination, the availability of the aircraft and where it is positioned at the time of the request, as well as the time it is to be made available. The quoted fare covers all the costs linked to the flight, from the aircraft to the service on board, and only a few precise charges, known in advance, are billed separately. Understanding this make-up is understanding why two apparently similar flights can differ, and why a serious quotation is always a tailored one.

Why is there no single “tariff”?

An on-demand flight is not a ticket: it is an operation built for you. Every quotation therefore reflects the parameters specific to your journey.

The aircraft type, first: the distance to be covered, the number of passengers and the level of comfort sought point towards a light, mid-size or long-range aircraft, whose operating costs naturally differ.

The destination, next: every airport has its charges, its handling services and its own constraints; an alpine airfield or a short runway is not operated like a major international hub.

The availability and positioning of the aircraft : an aircraft already parked near your point of departure does not generate the same positioning flights as one that has to be brought in.

The time the aircraft is made available, last: a one-way trip, a same-day return or an aircraft that waits for you on site for several days do not mobilise the same resources, nor the same crew.

What does a flight fare include?

A serious charter quotation is all-inclusive: it covers all the costs linked to the flight, with no hidden lines. At Dasnair, the fare includes:

  • use of the aircraft;
  • the crew;
  • fuel;
  • airport and landing charges;
  • the management and organisation of the flight;
  • applicable taxes;
  • catering, drinks and VIP services on board, according to the option chosen.

In other words, the price quoted is that of the complete journey: there is no supplement for ground handling, no surprise line for the flight plan or the permits. It is one of the markers that distinguish an operator from a mere reseller of flights.

What is billed separately?

Three items only, all linked to particular circumstances and announced in advance:

  • de-icing, when winter conditions require it before take-off: it is a safety operation whose necessity is only known on the day of the flight;
  • any charges linked to war risk, for certain destinations subject to insurance surcharges;
  • where applicable, use of SATCOM and Wi-Fi on board, whose consumption depends on each passenger.

The list ends there. Each of these items has a precise reason to exist: de-icing depends on the weather on the day, insurance surcharges on the geopolitical situation of the destination, connectivity on each person’s actual use. None can honestly be anticipated in a flat rate. A quotation whose exclusions are known, short and justified can be compared with confidence; a quotation whose exclusions are discovered after the flight is not a quotation.

How do you compare two flight proposals?

For an identical route, two offers can differ for perfectly legitimate reasons: type and age of the aircraft, positioning, quality of the service on board. To compare usefully, three questions are enough.

Who operates the flight? An operator holding an air operator certificate answers for its aircraft and its crew; an intermediary resells someone else’s flight. Our article on charter sets out this distinction, the most important in the sector.

What exactly does the price include? Ask for the list of inclusions and exclusions. If it is vague, so is the quotation.

Which aircraft exactly will you fly on? A serious proposal names a real aircraft type, its layout and its capacity, not a vague category.

Why is this transparency part of the service?

In our house, the clarity of a quotation is not a sales argument: it is a courtesy. The traveller who entrusts us with a flight also entrusts us with their time, their family or their colleagues; they deserve to know precisely what our proposal covers, and never to discover a line after the event.

It is also the consequence of our model: because we operate our own Falcon under Swiss certificate, we know the real cost of every flight hour, every stopover, every service. Our quotations are built on that first-hand knowledge, not on resale price lists. To receive a proposal for your next journey, our page Charter and our operations are at your disposal, day and night.

Frequently asked questions

Can the quotation change after confirmation?

The confirmed fare covers the flight as defined. It changes only if the journey changes — itinerary, times, passengers, waiting time — or if one of the three separately billed items arises, such as winter de-icing. In every case, you are informed beforehand.

Does a return trip cost twice a one-way?

No, not necessarily. It all depends on the aircraft’s programme: a same-day return, an aircraft that waits for you on site, or flights that follow on from other missions do not mobilise resources in the same way. That is precisely what a tailored quotation optimises.

Is catering on board really included?

Yes, according to the option chosen: catering, drinks and VIP services on board are part of the fare. Particular requests — an exceptional menu, specific wines, an occasion to celebrate — are prepared with our operations ahead of the flight.

How do I obtain a quotation for a specific flight?

Send us your itinerary, your dates and the number of passengers. Our operations study the request and send you a detailed proposal, with the aircraft named and the services listed, generally within a few hours.
